sandra mccuneThe TExES Master™ consultant for the PPR EC-12 and Core Subjects EC-6 products has earned the Stephen F. Austin State University title of Regents Professor, the highest honor bestowed by the university. Dr. Sandra Luna McCune, professor of Elementary Education received the honor with a vote of the SFASU Board of Regents. Dr. McCune has also been recognized as a Distinguished Professor by the SFASU Alumni Association.

Dr. McCune is a TExES test preparation expert and math specialist in the Department of Elementary Education at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. She has authored (or co-authored) 13 books and is a nationally recognized author of teacher education test preparation review materials.

Dr. McCune, a native of Nacogdoches, first came to SFASU as a student and earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, German and physics in 1970. She received her master’s in mathematics in 1975 while working as a math and science teacher in Nacogdoches County public schools. She started teaching at SFASU in 1979 and completed her Ph.D. in adult education at Texas A&M University in 1988.

She has received the Teaching Excellence Award from both the Department of Secondary Education and the university, the Student Government Association Outstanding Faculty Award and the University Professional Women Woman of the Year Award.

“Dr. McCune is an exceptional teacher, and students in this department consistently marvel at her teaching abilities,” said Dr. Mel Finkenberg, chair of the Department of Kinesiology. “I have had the privilege of working with her on a number of research projects. She is a clear thinker who is consistently able to dissect and understand the nature of all inquiries.”


pk brownDr. Perry K. Brown is highly qualified in the areas of ESL and Bilingual Education. As a TExES Master™ consultant, she has worked closely with us to develop the best possible study program to help students pass their exam.

Dr. Brown is the Dean in the School of Education at McMurry University. She holds a doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from Arizona State University with teaching fields in Early Childhood and Multicultural Education. She holds Master of Education and a Bachelor of Science degree from Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas. She has taught in the public schools in Texas and Arizona in the areas of Bilingual Education, English as a Second Language, and Early Childhood. As an administrator in the public schools, she was the Coordinator of Compensatory Education in the Chandler Unified School District in Chandler, Arizona. Her responsibilities included supervision of the Bilingual and ESL Programs, coordination of all computer labs district-wide, and training of staff and curriculum coordinators. She has taught for Northern Arizona University and has served an educational consultant for numerous school districts in the United States. She has written curriculum for the University of Phoenix and holds a Community College Certificate in Arizona. Dr. Haley-Brown has presented both nationally and internationally and is a member of NAEYC, TESOL, and Phi Delta Kappa.

During her time at McMurry University, Dr. Haley-Brown has developed courses for the Early Childhood (EC-4) and English as A Second Language certificates. She has developed and teaches bilingual coursework which is required for the EC-4 Bilingual Generalist certificate. She is responsible for the development of the elementary portion of the McMurry Professional Development School. The Professional Development School is a field-based program taught in conjunction with the public schools during the semester immediately preceding student teaching. Her approach to teaching is very student-centered. She incorporates cooperative learning experiences and requires the inclusion of educational technology as a part of her course requirements. She is also a great supporter of collaborative partnerships and has written several successful grant applications with surrounding school districts and departments on the McMurry campus.


holly bullardDr. Holly Bullard is an Associate Professor in the Department of Education at Lubbock Christian University. She is the author of the TExES Master Special Education study aid materials. She currently serves as the Associate Chair for Certification for the department. Dr. Bullard holds her doctorate in special education with a minor in reading from Texas Tech University. She earned a Master of Education in special education and a Bachelor of Science in multidisciplinary studies from Texas Tech as well. She taught in the Lubbock Independent School System before beginning her work at Lubbock Christian University in 2001. Dr. Bullard also owned and directed a local educational tutoring business that offered services across all subject areas and all age levels from pre-kindergarten to college. Her business included test preparation and study skills courses in addition to academic tutoring sessions. Being an educational diagnostician, she provided comprehensive and content specific testing as well.

Dr. Bullard has been preparing pre-service and in-service teachers for various ExCET/TExES exams for almost ten years. At LCU, she currently teaches a certification preparation course and has coordinated and taught additional preparations sessions for students to attend. Dr. Bullard has developed various education courses and teaches both undergraduate and graduate general education and special education courses. Her research-based approaches to teaching are grounded in real world application where students are encouraged and expected to apply their knowledge of educational theory and practice in local classroom settings. She continues to conduct research and has presented at various national and international conferences. She is a member of TACO, CEC, CEDS, IRA, and NRC.
